Welcome to Raising Sand's City of Alameda data reporting portal

Raising Sand Radio & New Media is a non-profit membership organization that brings together wide-ranging communities and ideas, finds commonalities, and develops resilience. We empower people and neighborhoods and develop interdependent face-to-face relationships and online systems. We aim to share knowledge and support sustainable networks.

This interactive map portal invites you to:
  • add data that Alameda residents may find interesting: reports, updates, and alerts, photographs, audio clips, and new media, and locations of participating businesses and non-profit organizations.
  • present information about your neighborhood: planned residential and industrial development; the ongoing clean up of superfund sites at Alameda Point; locations of community gardens, public parks, and buildings that generate energy from alternative sources, and a variety of ways to track changes, decision, and events that impact quality of life in our city.
  • network and connect with community leaders in Alameda and in  communities around the US and the world
  • market your small business or non-profit organization
  • soon you can also become a member and participate in conversations with community leaders around the world.

Raising Sand's Network includes:

  • Alameda Traffic Watch: reporting on traffic patterns in Alameda, California
  • South Africa's Kwa Zulu Natal in the Outer West region (this site is under development). The city of eThekweni, formerly known as Durban, is undergoing very rapid transition as it accommodates expansion for the harbor and port.
